Hello and welcome to the Windy Acres Mini-Schnauzers website!!
My name is Gloria Hicks. My husband Darrell and I live on two
gorgeous acres in Mount Airy, Maryland. We also own twenty acres
with a rustic little cabin in the beautiful mountains of Western
Maryland where we plan to retire some day. Both of our children are
grown and on their own, so I decided that the cure for empty nest
syndrome was to bring a dog into our home again. I had over 20
years of experience breeding Yorkshire Terriers and English Cocker
Spaniels while our children were growing up, but it had been a few
years since our last dog passed away. After researching several
breeds, I decided on the miniature schnauzer. My husband was not
happy with the whole dog thing at first, but once I brought them
home, he was hooked!!
We are not a kennel. All of our dogs are members of our
family; raised inside our home with full run of our house. They do
require regular brushing to keep their coats fluffy and matt-free for
that well known schnauzer look, but can be shaved short in order to
lessen the grooming.
Although we have had different breeds over the years, these
energetic, playful little dogs have definitely taken the number one
spot in our hearts. They are shed-free, intelligent, loyal, inquisitive
and friendly. So, if you are young or not so young, with children or
without, whether you live in an apartment or a house, if you are a
family of 10 or a single person living on your own, a miniature
schnauzer (or two or three) will be the perfect companion for you!!
