Welcome to Windy Acres Schnauzers!! We are Gloria and Darrell Hicks.
Our home is on almost two acres in rural Taylorsville, Maryland. Our two
children are grown and on their own, so we decided that the best cure for
empty nest syndrome was to bring a dog into our home again. We had bred
and raised Yorkshire Terriers and English Cocker Spaniels while our
children were growing up, but it had been a few years since our last dog
passed away. We knew that we wanted a sturdy, playful, friendly,
non-shedding family member so, after researching several breeds, we
decided that the miniature schnauzer was the perfect one for us.
In April of 2007 we brought our first one home. Little did we know at the
time that schnauzers are addictive!! Like potato chips, we couldn't have
just one! We have since added 3 more to our family. Although we have had
different breeds over the years, these energetic, playful little dogs have
taken the number one spot in our hearts. They are shed-free, intelligent,
loyal, inquisitive and friendly. Our dogs are members of our family; raised
inside our home with full run of our house. We give each of our puppies
individual attention as well as group playtime every day. Our grandchildren
help to make them kid-friendly as well! They will come to you pre-spoiled,
healthy, and well socialized; ready to be a great addition to your family.
So, take it from someone who is experiencing the joys of sharing their
home with miniature schnauzers. If you are young or not so young, with
children or without, whether you live in an apartment or a house, if you
are a family of 10 or a single person living on your own, the miniature
schnauzer (or two or three) will be the perfect companion for you!!
